Thanks for visiting!

The Save Rama's Bridge site is my storybook project. My site represents a fictional group of individuals attempting to prevent the Sethusumudram Shipping Canal Project from demolishing Rama's Bridge. While the characters and site authors are fictional (me), the bridge and the shipping canal project are both real.

  1. Hello Lauren. I really like the direction you are taking your project in. It is clear you put a good effort into making your site. It look exactly like a real website for an actual cause. In the absence of stories to critique, I do not have any critiques to give. Your introduction was excellent. I am looking forward to reading your stories and I like how you presented them as a conference lineup. I also like how many pictures you have. Even without stories I learned a lot about Rama's Bridge. I like all the little details like the website info, social media links, and website scroll down. Sometimes words would be unreadable due to font colors. I know that is a hard fix due to the images and colors but it would make the site better. Keep up the good work and looing forward to checking back in a few weeks.

  2. Hi, Lauren! I'm pretty impressed by the way your site is laid out. It looks like a real website for a non-profit cause that is portrayed so beautifully. The introduction gave a great history of the project and an excellent background about the history and religious aspects of the bridge. I really look forward to reading the stories when they are added. I had some difficulty reading the introduction so a suggestion would be to make the background have a greater contrast with the words so that they are easier to read. You might even be able to get away with bolding the words on the page, and that might help with readability. Otherwise, you did a wonderful job incorporating modern aspects to an ancient story. Your presentation is really unique with the conference style and speakers telling the stories. I really look forward to seeing what more you will create.

  3. Hello Lauren!

I am impressed by the website and how it looks more like professional. The outline which represent what you will be researching and writing your story. I really like that the story is on the saving the bridge that was built by Rama during the fight with Ravana. I hope they do not destroy or do something to the bridge because it represents the important part of the history that Rama build the bridge to save Sita. When I was reading through the introduction, I thought that there should be little more information needed. By giving out more detail people would have more information, as Shivani mention the bolding might help with readability. It will make much easier to read, otherwise everything looks good for your website. I would like to read what Bahujan Samaj Party and others has to say about this. I really hope they do not do something stupid. I look forward to read your published work in the future.

  4. Hi Lauren this project looks really interesting! I really liked how you have a distinct direction that you are looking to take you story. It also seems like you have put a lot of work into the website and background for the story. Putting pictures, descriptions, and stories of those related to the construction of the canal is very interesting! One integral thing that I am not really sure about is whether or not this canal project is real. The Storybook is very creative, but I am unsure if it is something the Indian government is actively seeking to do, or something hypothetical. I think some additional introduction would be very helpful in mitigating the confusion. Possibly a paragraph describing what you are planning on doing with the project would be a great way to help describe the Storybook to anyone who is confused. I really like the creativity of the storybook so far I look forward to reading the stories.

  5. Hello Laura,
Let me first say that I love your website. It is so beautiful. I love the guys that made Wix. You did a great job at setting up the website and making it pretty. I love all the history you gave and it really helped when I was reading the story. I love your story. Your story was so cool. I really do believe that every job is important. It doesn't mater if you sweep the doctors office or you are the doctor. I think you could incorporate more dialog between the animals and the gods. I think you did a great job on everything else.Thank you for making such a fun story. I really like how creative you got and no one has done anything like this. I like how you set up the first story. You have a great mind. I can;t wait to read more from you.

  6. Laura, when I first go to your page I was confused of if it was a project page or a link to a site about the conservation of land bridge created by Rama to rescues Sita. While I think it is a great site and looks very realistic maybe adding links to the four stories at the end of the introduction could be helpful for those trying to navigate the site. Especially since they are short depictions about what the future stories are going to be about. I really enjoyed your first story "Insignificant" when you compared how the human race sees squirrels as insignificant in the world but they are not. I was curious which version of The Ramayana you had read though. It has been awhile since we read them and I could not remember if the squirrels had helped build the land bridge in the version I had read. However, your author's notes do a great job of explaining the moral of the story which is a great one to have!! Great story and project, I cannot wait to come back and see how your final project turns out!

  7. Laura,
your site is AMAZING. The layout is so much different from anything I'm used to seeing and the color scheming goes so well with the theme and image you chose for your site. Your story was also really amazing. From the beginning I was drawn into your story and I wanted to keep reading further but then I got caught up to where your story was so far and I am looking forward to reading more.

  8. Hey Laura! I cannot say how much I love your website! It looks very professional from the very beginning. It looks as if there is an actual movement to save "Rama's Bridge." What originally gave you the idea to handle this topic? Your introduction was also executed very well. The conference lineup was a very good idea. One thing that I did notice, it is not a big issue, but maybe you should put in order the line up on the introduction to your posting order. I was hoping to see more posts too. I really enjoyed reading your first story. It is in a style that is very easy to understand and it matches your theme. It is cool to see how everyone can interpret stories in different ways. Overall, I have no complaints or big suggestions about your website. Keep up all of the good work and I will look forward to reading more from you!

  9. Hello Laura!

Wow, you have some skills with web development! I really admire the color scheme of your site. I think your webpage is very unique. In fact, it is like nothing that I've seen before. Your writing style is also very enjoyable.

In terms of feed forward, I think if you included the overall theme of your project, this would help readers understand more of your motivation behind the story. I hope to read more of your stories. Keep up the good work!

Your site is absolutely amazing! You have some serious talent that you have put to great use making your project truly shine. The entire design and layout is so beautifully done and you haven't left out a single detail. I can quickly see that you have put in a lot of time, effort, hard work, and creativity into this project. I am so blown away with how well done your project is that I don't think I can find anything for you to improve. You have mad skills so you must have some background in web design and you definitely have potential in making a living out of it. Good luck to you in your future endeavors!

  12. Hey there Laura! I just got done taking a look over you site and it looks really really good! I have not seen a WIX site be put to use yet and I am really impressed with how it turned out for your site. I have gone and looked at many conservation websites and yours really kind of fits the bill if you will. It navigates and looks like it could really be some kind of conservation page actually trying to save Rama's bridge. I could tell you put a lot of time and effort into it. I loved the introduction and the map layout you inserted in there. Again, it just gives a realistic feel to your storybook. All the stories i thought were executed very well and all went toward your goal and worked nicely! Great Job! You have an amazing storybook here.

  13. Hi Laura! Every week, I doubt whether the storybooks I read can get any more creative than those I read the week before. Yours certainly proved those doubts wrong! The activist angle you’ve taken with this storybook adds an unexpected and refreshing dynamic to the project. Each story that you’ve written so far feels as though it’s accomplishing twofold goals: first to entertain with myth and legend, and second to frame contemporary issues in age-old narratives. Both of these goals are well-executed!

You might want to play around with the color scheme of the site. It’s very difficult to read the social media links at the bottom of the page with most of the background images being of the same/similar color. Just a little thing, but something I thought might be helpful! Overall, you’ve got a very impressive site layout, and more importantly you have a very entertaining storybook! Well done!

  14. Hi Laura! I love the color scheme, visuals, and overall liveliness of your website and Home page. Your website just seems so interactive and intriguing that it makes readers want to read what your stories have to offer. However, I was kind of confused at the bottom of the page what the three sections were? One is a dark blue color, the other is a light blue color, and the other is green. Are those tabs stories or what exactly? I guess I am just confused as to what its purpose is. I enjoyed the history in the Introduction you have written because it gives readers background information and how you incorporated the story titles into it. In both your stories, I enjoyed the "lessons" that readers can learn from them. I have not seen anyone do that before, but I think that it is such a unique and clever idea because it adds an additional depth to the stories. Overall, great job on your stories! They were unique and kept me engaged. :)

  15. Hi Laura!
I'm super impressed with the look of your site, it looks like it was done by a professional! Your site was super interactive and had me wanting to learn more. The activist approach you're taking is definitely not one I have seen so far this semester, and I think it's a really clever way to present your stories alongside a real cause that you are passionate about. Your first story was super inspirational, no matter how small or insignificant we may seem, we can make big waves when we work together. You're so right that we don't place high value on those seen as "lower" in society, but we need every worker and every person to keep our society running well, so it is necessary to appreciate everyone's contribution. Honestly, the only recommendation I can even come up with is to remove the shadow effect that is on some of your words, because it makes them to read, but this is not at all a big thing. The way you constructed your stories to serve your purpose was done with mastery, well done!

  16. Nice to meet you Laura!
I just got done reading your story "insignificant", I loved how you were able to expand on such a small aspect in the Ramayana. I honestly did not even remember this part in the Ramayana until you mentioned it in your author's note. This was an awesome read because I love the little guy type stories. The beginning really set up the rest of the story very well. Especially with the little quote of inspiration in the very beginning, which set me up to be ready to fully read and comprhend your story as I believe it was meant to be read and understood. I also love how you did gave the squirrel stripes at the end and made them into a chipmunk. I wonder if the squirrels without stripes nowadays are just squirrels you were not brave or loyal enough to earn their stripes.

  17. Hello Laura,
I am back to say I love the progression of your portfolio. I still I love your website. You did a great job at setting up the website and making it pretty. I love all the history you gave and it really helped when I was reading the story. I love your story. I read your first story before and I love that it send the message that everyone is important and that everyone can make a difference. Your second story added a nice finish and addition to your first story. It added more depth and meaning to the first story. I loved the ocean waves in the background, I thought it was a cool new song that I was listening to but it was my song and your ocean waves. I also enjoyed your third story about the boy growing up without knowing who his father was. It was a very real story that many face. It reminds me of the movie Who's Your Daddy. It is hilarious . Your story reminded me of that.

  18. Hey Laura,

I have to say, your website has the most attractive design of any project I have looked at so far. The color scheme works together really well. The colors aren’t too bright or hard to look at, which would have been very easy to do. The introduction page set the stage up for the rest of the stories very well. The “Insignificant” story was fantastic. The narrative you wrote flowed together really well and it was really powerful. The story standing within the setting of a speaker at an event made it feel very real to me. Those kinds of stories fit really well into those types of speeches. I thought the message of the story was incredible as well. I really wish vocational trades were pushed more as viable options to students in high school. I know I would have benefitted quite a bit from it. Anyway, your project is fantastic. The premise of the entire thing is really captivating.

  19. Hey, Lauren i was really impressed with you website, i like the theme and how well organized it was. Clicking through your page, the story that caught my attention was titled "The Challenge", from the start to end. Reading through the story i seen a lot of similar stuff, that dealt with a lot of other stories i read before. I like the fact that there was dialogue talking and correct quotations for the saying and conservations. I think having the layout on your website made it easier to navigate through the webpage you made. i really enjoyed the layout and background which set a tone to your readings. I think each story you make will be like this one , and once your website is done it will be a really laid out detailed one. I think the storyline had a good flow and the story sounded like a real scenario taking place and the lesson in this story stuck on me!

  20. Hey, Trace!
The first thing I would like to say is that your website looks amazing! I took the time to read though all the stories on the site. Overall, I really enjoyed how each story had a different theme attached to it. Each story different, but still in favor of keeping Rama’s Bridge. Additionally, the introduction was informative on the current issues surrounding Rama’s Bridge, and it made me want to read the stories about it. My favorite story was “Insignificant” because it really highlights how the bridge was completed. If it were not for every little vanara (squirrel), or every tiny pebble, the bridge would have not been completed. There were some wonderful block quotes in this story; they gave me chills to read. It also reminded me of this quote, “No individual raindrop ever considers itself responsible for the flood.” Anyway, good job on this beautiful storybook!

  21. Hi, Lauren! To begin, I love how engaging and interactive your website is! The picture is gorgeous and the moving words are so neat. In your introduction, I love that you give us the background of the bridge and that you also give us a modern description of where it is. This helps my mind to grasp the concept of this better. I also appreciate that you’ve chosen to give us terms and persons as well! The layout is easy to follow, which is always helpful. “Insignificant” was so important if you ask me. Yes, the storytelling was great. But, your purpose behind telling it is what stands out to me. This is a sweet reminder of how every life is important. Looking at your next story, I am noticing the trend of you connecting these stories to more modern concepts! Clever. In this story, you use a small amount of dialogue, but I think you could incorporate more! Dialogue gives us a more intimate view into what is going on. Thanks for sharing your story!

  22. Hello Lauren. It is great to see how far your project has come, from the beginning to the end. Once again I really like the detail you put into the site. Now that there are more pages, it is still really easy to navigate and get to each of your stories. I also liked how your stories tied into your bridge theme. Insignificant was really good and i liked how you broke it down and titled it. I also liked how you tied it into current events. This all shows the attention to detail and time you put into your project. This is also one of the most educational projects that I have read. Adding details like the Institution of Engineers gave a lot of authenticity to your site and made it more interesting. I also appreciated how informative your authors notes were, and the additional links to view background information.

  23. Hey Laura! (Can I just say how confused I was when I scrolled up and every other person is calling you Lauren? Don't know where that came from, but I quadruple checked to make sure I'm not crazy and your name really is Laura ha!)
Wow your site is amazing! I don't know if I've seen many other Wixsites this semester, but when I saw some last semester they were definitely not as creative and detailed as yours! So Impressed over here! The sound from the youtube video was also such a nice touch!
I honestly think your storybook looks so great! The only thing I can see you doing to improve it would be the titles of the stories. If this were a real site for a project like this, I feel like each title should speak to a specific issue so someone wanting information would know which to go to. So maybe it's "Insignificant?" or "Small creatures, big effects". I don't know just an idea for making it even more believable as a site. But overall such great work! Wow!!
